For a brief while this afternoon, I had the pleasure of using the Hitachi G1000 and discussed the future of the Samsung i700 with a well placed Sprint employee. Bad news on both fronts. One, the G1000 is not very impressive, especially given its size. Two, the Samsung i700 has been delayed by three to six months on the Sprint network.

The rest of the story is at this link:

Just curious...
The first note here is June 5. Has no one else gotten or used of these devices?

Started with the G1000 yesterday. Spent all evening trying to find/install various flavors of IM clients.
Tried TipIcME...could not get the JVM to work right.
Tried the ICQ client beta. Could not get that to work.
Tried to find a free SSH client. No luck.

Web pages load fairly well and they look pretty good. We use Zope for our web/application server and it's all edited through the web. The Zope manage pages look great and are easy to use and navigate.

We use Webmin to manage our Linux servers....works well. Able to stop and start services from anywhere. Having Webmin, I don't *really* need SSH but it would be nice.

Is anyone else using the G1000 or the i700? We are in testing mode and looking for any and all feedback we can find.

A MySQL client would be nice too.

Thanks

Allen
