I recently purchased a Toshiba e740 and I can't seem to get it to talk to my snow Apple Airport (which supplies my 802.11b network) and my Linksys router (distributes IP addresses, etc. A hack to get the airport to work with Bellsouth.net).

Logging in to my linksys admin page, I don't see my e740 listed as one of the clients, although my e740 says it's found the network and been assigned an IP address. Obviously, IE on the e740 can't find the internet.

Can anyone think of a reason why this is happening? I've followed the wi-fi instructions in the manual.

Is anyone using a e740 with an Airport successfully?

Thanks,
Keith

Try making sure that your desktop's network settings are configured for your desktop to be essentially a server. I had the identical problem you had with the e740 seeing the computer but the computer not seeing the e740. Once I ran the network setup wizard to configure the desktop along with the Linksys router then the e740 worked fine.

Hmmm.... I don't think that is the problem. I already have the Wi-Fi network setup and serving an iBook and an iMac.

The problem turned out to be the WEP password. Turning this off on the Airport solved the problem.

I'm not sure why the Airport and the e740 couldn't work with the WEP password.
