Hello all

i am very new to pda's but willing to learn. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I want to use my pda for more than just a tarty diary but i cant work out how to transfere software to my pda. Is there a specific program i need to purchase other than activsync to achieve this. I do have windows media player & can tranfere mp3's but thats all.

Sorry to all you experienced users but this is probably a stupid question, but we al start somewhere!

All you need to install software is a compatible download. Go to sites like pocketgear.com and pdagold.com and look for software you want. Make shure you download the "ARM" version of the software. Then just double click on the downloaded file and it should start an instalation program.

Greetings;

Please post the answer to the following questions.

What type of PDA do you own? Make/model
What type of software do you want to transfer?

I can shoot at some answers for you.

If you are trying to install a program onto the PDA most of them will install when you Dbl click the install program. There are some programs that make you actually paste the program onto the unit. If you have established a partnership on your computer there should be a shortcut/file called "yourpartnership My Documents. If you open that up you can paste the program into that file and it will automatically transfer to your unit during you next sync.

CAUTION!!!!!! There are programs designed for the specific type of processors in some of the manufactures PDA's. You would need to download those programs only. There is MIPS,SH3,ARM and the new XScale PXA250 whick can run ARM programs also. That's why it helps to know what your running, Please let me know.

Hey PaintBall

I would presume that ARM stands for the StrongArm processor in the ipaq's, with the newest 3900's have the 400 mhz XScale processors - an educated guess!
