I am using psion ethernet wired card. Everytime I try to connect, it automatically resets.

Why is that happened?

Thanks

I'm guessing you have a CombineIT card, and the reset is a 'triple-beep' one yes? Some CombineIT cards have a known fault that causes the reset. Contact Psion Goldcard support and they will fix it free of charge (apart from postage).

Contact details can be found in my FAQ.

By the way, could you reply to the recent thread where someone is asking where to buy a wired ethernet card? I'm guessing you've only just bought yours ;)

I don't think it is a psion combine IT card
This is the address I bought from

BTW, I couldn't find who is asking me? anyway, I have put the web site above.

Thanks

This is the Psion DACOM gold card which belongs to their original range before they started selling the CombineIT range. I know there were problems with one or two of the Dacom cards and the netBook. Have you got a laptop? if so, it may be worth while checking you have the most current firmware installed on the card. This can be downloaded from the Psion.com website.

What machine are you using it on? Is it a 7 or a netBook? What OS are you running (ctrl+H)

Hope we can help further.

I have had a look on the website, but there does not seem to be any Firmware updates available for this card. Just Driver updates for Win2k. Can you provide more details of what happens when you try to connect. Does the machine just reset back to the startup screen? All screen settings reset (icon size, etc). Does the Psion make any noises such as a double or triple beep?

It looks as if this card may well be incompatible, although I cannot find anything on the psion / psionTec websites to confirm either way.

I have placed links for a compatible card on this thread if this is the case.

When I tried to connect, it happened just like you described above.(reset icon size and triple beep)

Actually the reply from
http://www.expansys.com/forumthread.asp?code=60-6012&thread=1

says it is compatible to my netbook.

What's going on?

This Triple Beep reset is indicative of a problem with the card's compatibility with the netBook. My advices it to contact Psion's Card technical support which is still a local rate 0845 number. There were similar problems with the 56k 10/100 LAN CombineIT cards and this was resolved with a hardward (lan card) fix. They will issue you with an RMA number to return the card for service work. This is all free as all cards came with a lifetime warranty. Make sure you confirm that the card is for use in a netBook.

As you will note, Psion has withdrawn from this market so you will need to be quick to get the work done for free under the warranty.

Have you had a look back at the thread from expansys? It was updated on the 13th of June and now details that the card you mention is actually incompatible:
http://www.expansys.com/forumthread...0-6012&thread=1

They will take it back and refund you the postage however (I know, because I bought one too).
