to sign the petition, and tell all your Psion-owning friends (and your boss) to do the same! The more companies (rather than individuals) sign it the more weight it will have. Please also take the time to answer the extra questions I've added to the end of the petition.
Also please allow some time (a couple of weeks?) to pass before informing any Psion staff you may be in contact with; the larger the list of signatories then the greater the impact it will have on first reading.
Thanks all

Excellent Yan. For those who do note it is possible to write more than just "yes" in the boxes (If I had know this I would have written more and I can not see a feature to edit my entry unfortunatly.)
Great to see that translations are available, gives a more global feel to it

Or is it just me??
Thanks,

Moderators,
Please post about the petition together with some background information in other forums (like Revo, Series5, 5mx etc.), preferably as a sticky. It's unlikely that people who don't own netBook are checking this netBook forum.
Cheers,

That's a very good point, thanks for raising it. We don't normally permit cross-posting but I think this is a special case. :)
I'll see what we can do.

Thanks for a job very well done!
I just can not live without my EPOC Netbook, Series 7, etc. from Psion. I really hope it will work out for all of us.

Yes I'm aware of this page but, it shows me just the number of signatures and NOT the people who have sign.
To ilustrate this have a look at this (http://www.hochstetter-im-web.de/petition.jpg). Is it normal??

Yes, yes!! But this has no result either. But in my case it was the Firewall software. I have to disable it to see the signatures.
And sorry for signing 3 times. This was in error, as I didn't see the list. Diem can you edit this?

Hi Julie and moderators,
There're things yet to be done to make the visibility of petition higher, I think: Submitting news items to news portal sites.
If you haven't done that already, would you please post the news to the PDA street (not this forum, but the news portal part of the site)?
http://www.pdastreet.com/newssubmit.html
Of course I can do that myself if it helps, but I guess you have some connection with them and thus it's likely that you are thought to be more credible than I am.
I've submitted a news for headline of www.symbcity.com (thanks Julie for posting to the forum!) and www.allaboutsymbian.com.
At the moment I don't have time to do anything further, but it would be very nice of you if you list suitable news sites and volunteer to post if possible at all. I'll be back this evening.
Cheers,
Keita

Hi Yan, I've noticed that the petition body has broken URI:The following is a distillation of a long discussion in the forums on the PsionPlace website (see http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/sho...&threadid=18259), representing the views of a vast cross-section of users from many countries around the globe. It's difficult for the readers to find this forum and read the discussions. It would be nice if you can make some correction (if possible).
Cheers,
Keita
Hi folks,
I know there's a couple of things wrong with the petition text, unfortunately once its posted it cannot be edited - sorry.

I have just had a look at the petition signatures and found a number of 612.
Personally, I am extremely glad of the results and I would invite everybody - also those just having a revo or a 5mx/mc218 - to give this petition a chance.
In fact, I do strongly believe that the more we will able to show how really vital the International Psion community is, the more chances we will have in seeing future development for our beloved machines.
The outstanding work performed by Yan (AKA Diem) included one innovative possibility: giving a third party the opportunity to take over a job which P/T - perhaps I actually do not know - may not be willing to do.
A more marketing-oriented third party may fully understand the potential of symbianboosting other smaller machines and therefore - who knows - a Symbian ER7 (Psionbrandless) netBook may establish a bridgehead for further operations. In this context, even smaller versions of the nB pro may be issued with ER 7 (perhaps a kind of a new coloured 5mx or maybe even a new sort of revo) .
Often reality goes further than fantasy: could this be the case?
This is why I think that the petition should be furtherly promoted among 5mx/mc218 and revo users.
Therefore, I encourage our moderators to evaluate to do so as well as keeping up the very good work.
BTW, thanks everybody for being committed to this subject.
cheers

Some more good news, I mailed Alasdair Bailey who writes the Symbian Shopper column in 'Computer Shopper' about the new netBook PRO and the Symbian 7 OS petition. Heres the reply:

>Thanks for the tip-off, it certainly makes interesting reading >doesn't it? The column for the September issue had to go off >down to london today so I included a mention of the petition >but couldn't really write very much about the machine because >there's nothing about it on Psion Teklogix's site at the moment >and I couldn't get hold of anyone there to quiz on the subject. >Rest assured though I'll track down my press contact and get a >comment you can use on the website forum too. Have you had >any word from Psion Teklogix? They're likely to be very vague on >details particularly if it's not been announced on their website >yet.

700 signatures as of just now, though I saw a few - but not many - multiples.
And the quality of the people signing is notable. There are also lots of people from Symbian OS software houses there, as well as from Psion Teklogix system integrators and distributors. That is a good sign.

Dear all,
As a small contribution, I promoted the Symbian OS netBook petition in several PDA sites in Malaysia. Hope they'll generate some impacts :-) I "borrowed" some words from this forum and also Cangiante's. Hope it's ok.

Ciao AL,
the spirit of the message I sent you and from which you borrowed some sentences was to spread the word of the petition around...Therefore, I am VERY glad you used it and hope that all this commitment will get satisfactory results ;)
I would be grateful if you could kindly update your site with the correct link to the original thread of the new netBook pro, thus allowing your readers to be able to follow the (long) discussion which lead the whole international community to formulate the four proposals included in the petition.
the right link is the following:
http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18259
and, for those having a slow connection such as a GSM one, the printer-friendly version is here:
http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/printthread.php?s=&threadid=18259
keep up the good work!
