I am looking for a program to keep stats during a baseball game. I saw a program on a Palm and I thought that maybe I could find one for my Mako. My son plays college baseball and I like to keep up with the scorebook and if I could do that using my Mako that would be very cool.

Ken,

I've never seen a program devoted to baseball stats. It would be reasonably easy to use either Sheet or Data to record stats. If you need something that's cpable of more complex database work and has things like drop down boxes and pre-filled fileds, have a look at the freeware PsiDat at http://www.millican.info/Home/PsiDat.htm .

Jim,

Thanks for the information. I downloaded the file this AM but have not had a chance to look at it as yet. I still am hoping that a program exists that will work or one that can be modified to work on the Mako. I really would like to have an electronic scorebook for the Mako.

Thanks Again,

Ken:)

Ken,

I did a pretty extensive search of all the Psion software sites I have bookmarked and there's no baseball-related applications. There are rugby, soccer, and Australian rules foorball programs but none of them will do what you want for baseball. This is probably a reflection of the relatively small numbers of Americans using the Psion compared to the Palm.

Ken,

Being a non-sporty Brit can you gme some idea of what a baseball scoring application would need to do. Could it be achieved via a spreadsheet or would you need a dediacated application? What sort of data is stored? I'm not offering to write anything but it might help us to help you.

Simon,

It would need to be able to keep track of hitters at bats per inning plus the score after each inning. It would probably need to be a dicated program. I saw one on a Palm pilot when I was at a game in Florida. This program had a resentation of the playing field and could call up each batter for each team and what each of the batters did at there last at bat as well as enter new information about each player. It was very extensive. I did not get the chance to ask the user where he got the program, but I'm sure something is available. Anyway I appreciate the help and I will keep looking.

Thanks,

Ken

It seams like I used to have Score Pad http://www.scorepad.ws/ with a OS conversion program? It had spray charts and oponent player averages. Great program but like any of them, it was agrivating to set up before a game. I finally bought a key board.

You can also go to http://www.fixedit.com/baseball_pda.html for another one.

The two apps you mention appear to run on Pocket PC and Palm respectively - I see no option for either of them to run on EPOC, which is what would be needed for the Mako. Unless you can tell us otherwise?

I'm also looking for a program to run on Symbian. Recently got a Sony Ericsson p900. I'm now using a Digital Scout Program on a Palm, but if I can find one to work with Symbian I don't have to bring two device to every game.
