Internet Explorer - Dumb Question

Having exactly two days experience with Pocket PC's and my new Axim 5, I'm not exactly the world's expert .... yet! When I try to "surf the web" with Internet Explorer I get only a small piece of the webpage and have to scroll up and down, left & right to see the page. I thought I read that the webpage could be made to fit on the screen, but I can't seem to make it do it. I have checked the option to fit to screen size, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Any help from someone?

Couple of choices, but they are not free and keep in mind the screen on the pda is still a lot smaller;
1> you can turn the screen to landscape format and/or make it display higher resolution;
