I've got a major problem, my Ipaq looks totally messed up.

As soon as I switch it on it behaves as if it's out of memory, running slowly, screen not reacting to stylus strokes at all, when it does react to the stylus it highlights a menu option or keyboard character nowhere near where the stylus was pointed.

Now and again it does perform normally but usually only for a few key strokes.

So far I have reinstalled 2002, restored from backup etc with no improvement.

What I think has happened is that my new USB synch/charg cable has somehow messed an area of the memory chip, too much current or something so if an item of software attempts to run in that area it can't.

Has anyone heard of this or seen this before as I am fast coming to the conclusion that my Ipaq is stuffed and I'm going to have to get one of those 400mhz Toshiba's,

I think the iPAQ has a small resistor built in to prevent that from happing, especially if it is a commercial sync/charger. If you made it yourself you might have over powered something, but I seriously doubt it. Try doing a soft reset and if that doesn’t work try a hard reset. Also check to make sure there aren’t alot of programs in the "Start Up" folder located in the "Windows" folder on your device.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

I am using a Belkin USB.

As I said, I've tried just about everything, soft reset, hard reset, rom reinstallation, still the same problem.

The only thing I boot on startup is gigabar, the memory is hardly getting used.

What I did do after reinstalling PPC2002 was restore software from backup, what I might try next is reinstall PPC2002 and instead on restoring, reinstalling each item of software individually.

After performing a hard reset does everything work fine until you install pocket pc 2002, or until you restore the back up. Or is it slow immediatly after the reset befor anything is installed?
