Hi

I've just bought a Linksys Wireless Compact Flash Card, WCF12, for my Dell Axim X5

I have installed the driver for the CF card on my Axim,

but I can not connect online to the internet with it

When I checked to see if the Axim was recieving the signal

from my wirless router, it showed the correct MAC address

for the router.

If anyone can help me, I aprreciate it very much

thank you

this is probably a little obvious, but I managed to forget about it last week when was re-setting up a connection to my school's network--

make sure in settings>connections that the bottom drop-down window for "my network card connects to" is set to "The Internet"

do you also have a linksys router?

You may need to upgrade the firmware on the Netgear router. I have one of them as well and there is a firmware update on their web site.

http://www.netgear.com/support/support_details.asp?dnldID=317

Read the instructions carefully - they say if you have "v2" on the model number sticker on the bottom of the unit you should not upgrade.

Before doing that, though; are you using WEP? If so, did you make sure that the hex WEP settings on the router match the Linksys card settings? If you used a passphrase to generate the WEP settings they may not match if they are different vendors.

Does the Linksys card software have a control panel that lets you look at IP addresses, SSID settings, etc.? If so, do they match what the router has set?

My Netgear router is at home so I cannot scour the settings right now but that would be where I would start anyway.

hi doogald

thanks your very MUCH!!!!

I got my pocketpc on the web with your help

hehe, never thought that the router was the problem

didn't have any trouble getting my laptop on the web, so

i would have never thought that the router was the culprit

to my frustration

thanks again doogald!!!!
