Does anyone know if it's possible (in some form) to access a Win2k LAN via Active Sync?? I'd like to access my LAN for stuff like the corp intranet etc.

any ideas welcome.

NO, you can't see files on the desktop or network from the ipaq.

Really? I know you can, I just didn't think it was possible using activesync.

Can definitely be done via 802.11b ... I haven't done it via Activesync though...

Well if you connect them like you would connct a desktop and a desktop then it will work. But using activesync you can't view files on the desktop machine, just like you can't view them when it is in the cradle.

It works!!!!!!!!!! Wow, i love this. It will let you map network drives and make them visible in all other applications. You have to try this. I got it working using my ethernet connection. I couldn't get it to work via activesync though. You'll have to have a network setup and have the files you want shared on your PC selected for sharing. That's tthe hardest part, getting a network up and running.

If you have a network you have to try this out!

This site may be of interest to some of you -- off topic a bit (not Activesync)...

I have an iPaq 3975 and I use a Linksys PCMCIA wireless card with a sleave. In an excercise in Hoop Jumping  I got AS network access working with a USB connection. It was one of those 'Rainy Day' projects.

I've since not used it because why would I want that slow a network connection.
But this is what I remember:
1) in Settings..Connections..Network Adapters..ASYNCMAC1 NDISWAN Adapter Properties, I had to assign myself an IP address (it seems to make life easier for the iPaq, but it's really not necessary)
2) on the Name Servers TAB I set the Wins to AS's IP (I think it's 192.168.1.55)
or was it the IP of the Host PC. ;)
3) I needed pocket Hosts from
www.zimac.de/cestuff.htm You may not need it.
4) Made an entry in pocket hosts of the PC which AS was connecting to.

Viola, instant access through AS USB and Serial.

If you're doing this, you might want to consider PE-Explorer since it is a full-bodied (win31 File Manager like) explorer allowing mapping of drives, reconnect, zipping, unzipping, viewing, launching, etc.

If you have active 'maps' to a PC and find you cannot Sync anymore, disconnect from the network drives on the PPC and try again. It's a BUG in AS, it tries to mate with every connection it sees.
:)
