I purchased a Visor yesterday and downloaded some apps. The last two were Acalc (a scientific calculator) and Mathlib (50kb).
Ever since all I get are fatal errors - even after multiple hard resets. There is a short window after the hard reset and the hotsynch where the Visor works. During this very short window of opportunity I've tried to delete Mathlib but am denied permission.
I have a suspicion that Mathlib is the culprit but don't really know what is happening. I'd welcome any and all suggestions.

After you do a hard reset, have you tied to work with any of the native applications before syncing again? If so, are you getting the fatal errors then?
The hard reset should erase all of the applications and data that you have on the PDA. Until you sync again following the reset, the calculator and Mathlib should not be on the PDA.
If you find that the PDA works immediately following the hard reset and doesn't following a sync, then:
1. Eliminate the calculator and Mathlib from your backup directories.
2. Hard reset again
3. Sync
This should clear up that problem -- if the calculator and Mathlib are the problem.

I did remove the Mathlib and ACalc applications from the backup folder and then did the synch after the hard reset. Unfortunately that did not solve the problem. I removed all of the applications which were not on the visor when I bought it but it still gives me a fatal error. After a soft reset it behaves ok for a couple of hours and then I can't even switch it on. I then do the hard reset, synch, and the problem repeats itself.

Try a hard reset and DO NOT sync the PDA. How long does it work at that point? Repeat, DO NOT SYNC! Will the machine continue to function?
This is very odd.

Handspring's version of Palm OS has Mathlib built in. If you then add Mathlib to RAM, you get crashes. Best bet is to do a WARM reset, delete Mathlib from RAM, then do a soft reset, and do make sure Mathlib is not in your backup directory.
