Hi everyone, my company wants me to find a pocket pc or PDA that will allow to me access our network 24/7 outside the office. Does anyone have any ideas on where to start with this? Is there a specific software or just a model? Im at a loss and theyre wanting something fast. Thank you everyone!

I'm not sure what you are trying to do here? I mean, if you want a handheld, which is permanantly connected to your network, then you should be able to use one of the Pocket PC phones, with GPRS to keep a connection live all the time - it just may be a little costly, as most airtime companies give you a few Mb of data transfer with your line rental, then charge you for any extra data you transfer.
Let me know what you are trying to use this for, and I may be able to help a little more. I have just taken over PDA support within the company I work for - and so, have just arrived, fresh faced from all the training days and exhibitions they could possibly send me on!

I am looking for a pocket pc or pda that will allow me to check my network 24/7. Mostly to ping IP addresses to verify whether the network is up or not. Also, I have a sniffer program for networks. Basically just a device I can configure to be part of my network without having to be in the office. Does this require cell phone service? Palm has the tungsten C you can use in hotspots, but is there something with more flexibility?

I use the iPAQ 5450 - wireless access from my home to work and dial-up through a Nokia 6310i when I dont have wireless. You can get good sniffing software / network utils for this. I suppose a lot depends on your budget.
