Most of the colour themes on the Tungsten C are rather guady but by selecting one of the less offensive ones they do have a use.
My partner and myself have both just purchased a Tungsten C. By selecting a colour theme on at least one of the C's, it gives us a visual clue that we do have the correct Palm when you turn it on.

I thought I lost my m500 after a month I broke down and bought the Tungsten C. I have the device password protected. !When the device is turned on the screen shows the users information. You choose what info you want shown name, email, phone #.
There are two passwords a quick password that lets you gain access to the device quickly and then there is a full password that must be entered in the event of entering the quick password wrong. Individual applications that you choose to secure would require the full password. I evenually found my M500 but for a month I thought that someone had all my information and business information I was a complete wreck

Neither of us have sensitive material on our Palms and we can't be bothered with the hassle of having to enter a password every time we turn them on, which on some occasions can be fairly frequently.
The colour coding will work well for us.

I lost my Sony Clié NR70V on a trip from the US to Saudi (stolen on plane enroute to Paris). NO help from French to report it. I didn't have it password protected either. I thought I would DIE! (I had my whole LIFE in there!) I had to quickly change Bank info. & a TON of passwords, and then I PRAYED no-one would miss-use what they found. LESSON: I STRONGLY URGE EVERYONE to use AT LEAST the initial Password protection on you PDA. That way, if they steal it or you lose it, they'll have to do a MASTER RESET, which will wipe out all your personal data. (Keep Sensitive info stored INTERNALLY, NOT on REMOVEABLE MEDIA!)
