Have an iPAQ 1910 and have received email messages with Excel attachments that will not open. Clicking on the Excel icon, at the bottom of the message display, highlights the icon text in blue, but Excel is not booted and the file does not open. Any help will be appreciated!

I am not sure if it is the same on your device buy try this

go to your inbox
open the email
select edit
and click on "mark for download"
close the message
and syn your inbox

you should now find that you can open the attachment

Thank you for your help - it worked exactly as you suggested. Do you know if it ispossible to set up the device to automatially mark attachments for download?

Not that I am aware of, but maybe someone else will know.

NB down loading attachments automatically may be a problem it someone sends you a large file or if you get a lot of emails with attachments as they could kill your memory.

So I suggest you consider carfully before doing this (assuming it is possible) .

NB if your have a storage card you could save attachements onto it. while in your inbox go to tools, options, storage and their should be a tick box to save to storage card.

Cheers

On the Advanced (2/3) screen (reached from screen 4 of the email setup -- you can go there for existing accounts using the Tooks, Options on the Inbox screen), you can specify options for the account such as downloading the entire message (the Options dropdown) and attachments.
