I have just purchased a new Palm M515 to use in replacement of a "work supplied" M500 - However - although I can link with my home desktop with no problems - I cannot link to my business laptop !

The business laptop has been setup to work with the Palm M500

How can I get my Palm M515 to work on this laptop ?

All I want to do is keep calander updated (No email etc)

I have renamed my new Palm M515 with the same as my M500 (Same ID etc) but this does not work.

Any ideas (Other than loading new palm desktop onto the laptop - I cannot get access)

Thanks

One thing you might want to do in an effort to speed the process is to rename the Backup folder obn the PC at work. When you start the sync the Palm software will create a new one and ask you for the proper ID to sync with. If that fails tell me a bit more about the events that occur when you attempt the hotsync at work.

Thanks DrMud,

I tried renaming the backup folder but as soon as I connect my new 515 via the cradle (The same old cradle used for 500) the laptop detects it as new hardware (For which I do not have authorisation to install)

What I am looking for is a way for the laptop to think that the new palm is just the same as the old one. (I thought changing the user name and ID using changename would have done this?)

Any more ideas ?

Thankyou, Juddy (UK)

Because you say that you do not have install authorization, I'm going to guess that your IT department has installed some additional software or enabled some security features on either Novell or NT servers. I suspect that the easiest solution -- ultimately -- will be to get the IT folks at your company involved and have them assist you with the migration to your new device. Hopefully they won't prohibit this migration.

Sorry to have been out of touch for so long.

Judy are you using windows XP? If so you need Admin Authority when you install the Desktop.
