I just bought a m515 and when I press the Menu silkscreen button I get this error msg. Fatal Alert is on top and the only way out is to Reset. Anyone know how I can fix this? Is this button really necessary? Thanks, Karen

I don't really know what is causing this problem, but first thing I would try is a "hard reset". Basically it totally resets your device, deleting all add on apps and info(address book, note pad, etc., not the actual programs, but the little self portrait you drew in notepad will be gone). I'm almost positive that the next time you hotsync with your computer, it will reinstall all the files. To do this, do a reset while holding down the power button, it may take about 10 seconds(or 10 tries), but a screen will pop up that says "Erase all data?, Press up to continue" and to finish, press up. If this does not work(or your to scared to try it), just go get a new one from the store, if you just bought it, it should still be under warrenty. Hope this helps!

Yes, that button is for using the menu, it is necessary. You should be able to click in the top left part of your screen and get the menu that way. I have to go to bed:( , but I will check this again tommorrow, goodnight, sweetdreams.

Since the top one works, it won't bother me if the bottom one doesn't. You think I may be asking for trouble knowing that one part doesn't work and not sending it back? It sure was a good price and I'd like to keep it, if I don't inherit any other problems. I know you would just be guessing, but I'd be interested. Thanks

Well, I don't know. I mean, if that was the only thing, it may not be such of a problem(although you would have to avoid touching that part of the screen), but digitizers are expensive to replace, and it may develop more problems. I really don't know. I think that I would return it. If you can't exchange it for another, try half.com or ebay.com. That's where I got mine, and havn't had any real problems. I would recommend half.com over ebay though, and just make sure your careful!

I just checked, it looks like they go on ebay for about $260, and half.com maybe a little more. Then there's shipping. Like I said though, be careful.

Thanks for the Info. I will let you know what happens, if you want me to. I sure appreciate your help. It's not an easy decision to make. I am working on syncing with Outlook right now. I have a friend who really likes Ipac and Hp's Jornando better, but they are so much more expensive. I have had a Nino 500, but it is starting to act flaky and it is really hard to see outdoors.

I would definitely encourage you to try the hard reset and see if that takes care of the problem. My guess is that somewhere along the way you have installed a piece of software that is causing you some problems, and you'll need to figure out what it is.
If the problem persists after you have done a hard reset and before you sync again to your PC, then you may have a defective product that should be returned.
Good luck.

Thanks, I really hadn't installed any software before this problem occured. I did do a hard reset and the same problem still exsist. I sure hate to return it, but I don't want a defect unit either....

Yeah, hard resets would cure just about any software issues. Which means, it's an actual problem with the unit physically. I fit really doesn't bother you that much, then you might want to just keep it. But of course, if it started to spread as you used it, hmmm. But if you can still return it, well, I would. As many problems as these things can have, it's best to make sure you have a good unit from the start. I still recommend half.com. I've never used it, but I think their stuff all has good coverage and return warrenties and what-knot. If you have a little more time on your hands, you could get a cheap one on ebay.
