Cmd + Y (Categorize option) crashes

On the Applications Launcher screen, when I press Command Stroke key + Y to categorize an application, I get a 'Fatal Alert message - MemoryMgr.c,Line:365,NULL handle' and I have to reset the machine. Has anybody else come across this error? What causes it and any solution?
