I knows its a heck of a newbie question but how can I tell? All I see when I click version (settings-system-about) is Microsoft PocketPC 3.0. I was told Pocket PC 2002 was installed...but I don't know how to confirm that.
Also has anyone used those silver slider expansion packs?
Thanks for any help!!

Setting-System-Asset Viewer-Version and check ROM Revision
If it starts with a 2 for example, 2.14.03 ENG, then you have pocketpc2002.
If it starts with a 1 for example, 1.77.00 ENG then you have pocketpc2000.

Are you sure about that? If so, my recently purchased 3835 is running PocketPC 2000 rather than the advertised 2002! Do you know if I can update from 2000 to 2002?
Thanks

The applicable ROM and EEU upgrades are available on the Compaq (HP) site. Go to http://www.compaq.com/support/files/handheldiPAQ/us/locate/71_2594.html and check under ROMPaqs/BIOS and Firmware and Management and System Software.

I'll have to agree with edelmak. The believe the "1" in the ROM is for the personal end users, ex. 3835, and the "2" is for professional end user, ex. 3850. Even thought both units are identical. Otherwise their own ads are wrong.

I have loaded all of the software you noted from the Microsoft site but it did not change my ROM version from 1.15.04 ENG.
I think you may be mistaken that the "1" denotes PocketPC 2000!
Any other way of confirming that an iPAQ is indeed running 2002?

In Settings, About, if the version displays as 3.xxx (3.0.11171), you are running PPC 2002.

Well that seems to make sense since I do show that my iPAQ is running Version 3.0.11171.
Now I can rest easy! Thanks.
