My ipaq 3660 has no sound whatsoever, either out of the built in speaker or the headphone jack. I am completely stumped. i downloaded the driver update from compaq and reinstalled it, and i also nstalled windows media player 8. neither of these actions have helped. Any suggestions?

Hi
My Ipaq 3660 has recently lost all sound from the speaker and headphone jack. Did you manage to fix the problem?

Any advice appreciated.

I had problems w/ my 3635. There's a switch in the head phone jack that can get damaged. I had to send it in to compaq for repair.

Have you checked your sound settings to see if the volume is turned up? If this isn't the problem, it sounds like you have a hardware related problem that only a service center can fix.

Thanks for the replies.

I initially thought it was a software problem because everytime I tapped on the volume icon next to the clock the unit crashed and I had to do a soft reset. I ended up doing a hard reset but that didn't make any difference either. I've been playing round with it again today and I got some intermittent crackling by pushing the speaker/joypad button so I think it probably is a hardware issue. I guess I'm just going to have to stop putting off the inevitable and send it off to compaq.

Cheers
