Hi,
Before I make my order for NR70 I need to know about 2 things
1- Memory Stick loose connection issue - and how bad it is
2- Does CLIE NR70 come with a screen protector – or should I order the CLIÉ Screen Protector for PEG-NR (PEGA-SP70)
thanks

My first unit had the infaimous MS problem and I put up with it for about two months. Kind of like a toothache you think will go away if you ignore it! Truthfully, I was kind of waiting for Sony to get their #@!! together and address the problem in their new production models. I returned my unit to Best Buy about three weeks ago and exchanged it for a new one and "so far so good". No signs of a problem so far.
I would suggest picking up screen protectors for any handheld I own. Once you got a scratch on the units screen it's there to stay. Not so if you use a protector. Brando's protectors are great, but expensive. I purchaced the cheaper Fellows brand this last time and they are okay, I just look like a "Monkey Doing A Math Problem" putting them on. Fourteen hands would help, but two will work.

I had the MS problem and after three months sent it to Sony for repair. They had so many units shipped in for MS repair they had a backlog. I mailed mine on August 29th, they have fixed it and it's on it's way back. Almost a month without it. I really missed it. The MS problem was a nuisance but not a disaster. I waited for Sony to "own up" to the problem and to be willing to fix it. I suspect this is an issue because of the thin case and the little flexing that the case can go through with normal use, especially when typing on the thumb keypad. I had problems about once a week while listening to MP3's. I learned to take the MS out when typing on the keyboard.
As for the screen protector: I used Fellows on my palm IIIxe but didn't like them. The NR70V seems to have a very hard plastic covering that also gives a little bit as you use it. I've had mine for three months (four if you count this month its been at Sony!) and there isn't a scratch on it yet. Of course I don't use graffiti so I don't have that area scratched up like my Palm was. I use the soft keyboard replacement in the graffiti area much of the time and tapping doesn't have the same danger of scratching as graffiti writing does. I find the soft keyboard much faster than graffiti.

Ummm...
to solve this problem , temporary.
Please, OFF your NR70V
Then, at the back of NR70V body , you can see "CLIE" logo ( in the line of Memory Stick Slot).
Press at Clie Logo about 2-3 times.
Then try again.
This just for temporary solve problem.

So, this problem is only in the first shipment and is fixed in the following shipments?
I mean if I buy NR70 now what is the chance to get a defected one?
I live in a remote area and shipping stuff back and forth is very costly for me.

I bought the NR70V about 4 months ago and it was not defective at all. Hopefully the odds will work in your favour. I usually have the worst luck in the world and everything I buy is defective the first time but not the 70V.

I am using NR70V for over two months now. No problem so far. I remove memory stick at least 5 to 6 times a day. I am using sony bluetooth memory stick to access internet via my laptop. May be I am lucky enough to have a faultless unit that even swaping the memory stick with bluetooth all the time doesn't give any problem.

I have had my NR70 for about 6 months now. Never had a problem with the MS until a couple of days ago. After deciding I couldn't fix this problem on my own I called Sony. They will be sending a box to me so I can have it serviced. Luckily I have a PPC or I would be lost (no schedule, bejeweled, etc). I am hoping it won't be out of my hands for too long.
