Read in other post about travel modem speed. I have a 1996 Psion travel modem (given to me) that plugs to the phone and the RS socket is this the 14 KPS one you were talking about? And is the IR the only other faster one? Whats the baud speed?

The IR Travel modem says that it will support up to 56 kbs - though I have never checked it for sure, it does seem to transfer data adequately fast.

There are two Psion "Travel Modems" - the original one supplied for the 3c, which connects to the serial port of the Psion (except the Revo) and operates at 14.4kbps.
The newer one is the "Infrared Travel Modem" which is V90 and operates (theoretically) at 56k download, though you are unlikely to achieve a 56k connection - my PC's V92 modem normally connects at 50.6kbps. Upload speed for V90 is 33.6kbps.
The "baud" rate which you set is the speed of the serial port. It is the speed at which the Psion and modem communicate - it is NOT the speed of your connection to the internet. I normally recommend setting it at least twice the speed of the modem to allow for data compression.

my settings for the infrared travel modem include a speed set as high as 57600
would you say I should raise it to 115200 or leave it at the current level?
