this is the second time my palm has died on me. the first time, it wouldn't turn on, but as soon as i put it in the cradle, it was fine. that was a month ago. today, again, it wouldn't turn on, and now that it's back in the cradle, it's reset itself. do i need to buy a new battery? is there something else going on with it? how do i figure this out? sigh, i hate the idea of having to install everything on it again.
thanks.

I am new to this, so bear with me! I have had the same problem. My Palm M505 held a charge for a short time (most recently for 4 days only ). Is there a solution to the problem? Any recommendations?
Sounds like a battery problem. When one cell in the pack dies, the other cells die rather quickly. This is true of all battery packs.
Replace the batteries and I think it'll straighten your problem out. Any time I've looked at a Palm with the symptoms you described, it's been the batteries (except for once when there was a pencil lead stuck in the reset hole)

Install a battery monitor like Battery Graph, this will help to confirm if your battery is at fault.

The battery managment software in the Palm can become confused. It can be reset to the factory values by placing the Palm in the charge cradle then perform a soft reset without losing the connection in the cradle. Let the unit charge for a minimum of 2 hours.
If this fails you may well be experiencing a battery failure. Gethightech. com sells the batteries and the necessary torx drivers to perform the R&R.
