Does anyone have or know where I can get a spare space bar key for my 5mx (preferrably a newish one). I have a rarely used 5mx as a back up machine and have discovered that the space bar key is bowed. My attempts at straightening it have not been successful! I know it's a faulty key as the one on my main 5mx works on the other machine perfectly. However, I need to have both machines fully working.

I contacted POSltd but they say they don't really sell spare parts as such.

Thanks all.

I had a similar problem and used the tip from Mike using hot water - it worked fine! Here's what I did in more detail : put the space bar in a cup of recently boiled water for 10 mins. Take out, hold the ends with the top of the space bar against your thumbs then press *gently* with your thumbs. I'd say the bend angle is less then 5 degress. Whilst holding this bend position, run space bar under the cold water tap for about a minute.
You should find the bar ends up with a slight upward bend - this means the ends don't hit the keyboard base - so the key works when hit at any point.
Hope this helps!

Thanks - I tried a version of this but with no success. I then thought gentle heat high above a gas flame would soften it - This was a stupid thing to do. It softened the plastic alright - but a tad too much in the corners of one end of the key - need I say more!!
