Hi everyone,
Does anybody know whether it is possible to exchange data with IrDA from my Psion 5mx to the Siemens S55 mobile phone. With this I mean vCards, normal files, synchronisation?
I managed to get contact with the S55 modem and get internet and e-mail, but not this simple data exchange.
The infrared of the psion detects the phone, but then rejects data transfer....
Thanks in advance!
Peter
You should install a software like PiBeam on the Psion :(http://www.psiloc.com/psion/eng/plbeam/index.html).
I tried to copy some photographs from the S55 to my Revo : it works fine !

I have been deperately trying to connect my Revo to my Siemens S55. Could someone please let me know what settings they are using to accomplish this?
Thanks

Name - S55
Speed - 115200
Connect - Infrared
Fax Class - Auto
__________________
Init (reset) - AT&F\Q3
Data - (blank)
Fax - (blank)
__________________
Flow - Hardware (RTS/CTS)
Terminal (DSR/DTR) [ ] not checked
Carrier (DCD) [ ] not checked
Type - Mobile
If it times out without dialling, try changing the last setting above from "Mobile" to "Fixed line".
There is a file on the Siemens documentation CD giving all the parameters for a GPRS connection (extras\7 Manuals\Network Parameters.pdf). Most of these parameters (modem initialisation string, tel. number, login and password, DNS numbers...) depend on your operator.
In addition, your mobile phone must be declared as "FIXED LINE" in modem/advanced.
In the Internet service, smart dialing must be OFF (otherwise, yo could not type numebrs such as *99***1# ! )
For sending SMS, you simply have to choose the standard "infrared mobile phone" in your SMS account (in e-mail app).
I have not tested a simple GSM connection for Internet or e-mail.
I am now trying to configure a Palm Tungsten for GPRS : this is really tricky... PSION IS GREAT !!!

Hi all,
After this first succes with file transfers via infrared to my S55, I have another problem:
Trying to get internet via GPRS, first it seems it works well since I get a login screen for the GPRS provider and the status is "connected".
However, whether or not providing username and password, after ca. 3 seconds a pop-up window appears saying "Problem opening http://.......... Comms line failed"
Does anyone know what this mean and how I can make it work?
Thanks,
Peter

The "Comms line failed" error message usually indicates a modem configuration problem. What settings do you have in CP/Modems and CP/Internet for your GPRS connection?

For using GPRS connexion with the Psion, you should install the mobile connectivity update 2.0 (available from the Psion site).
The modem initialisation string must be :
AT+CGDCONT=1, "IP", "your_provider"
where your_provider is your provider's name (for instance, for Orange France, it is orange.fr). The list of names is in a file on the CD delivered with the S55. You will also find there all the necessary settings for a GPRS connection.

For GPRS with 5mx and S55, you might like to check my posting in this thread:

Siemens say the combination is not compatible.
