Hi,

Way back when TomTom were Palmtop they gave away a program called SafePlace. I've got the EPOC version on my 5mx but the old SIBO version has disappeared. Palmtop, I mean TomTom, no longer have a copy that they know of.

But perhaps someone reading this has?

I did actually do a search for this at the time you originally posted. The original EPOC release of the program was called "DataSafe" and that is actually the version I still have, but I'm not aware of it having been released under either name for the Series 3 platform.

I do remember this application running on my 3mx. I think is was called DataSafe then also. In my mind's eye, I can see the splash screen.:) I've checked all the likely places...wait a minute, I think I may have found it. It was called CodeSafe. You can find the index at ftp://src.doc.ic.ac.uk/Mirrors/sunsite.doc.ic.ac.uk/usenet/comp.binaries.psion/Index . From there, you download the April 1997 .GZ file that contains all the upload to comp.sys.binaries.psion (remember when there actually used to be things there?:( ). That should contain CodeSafe. I hope I've found the right program -it's all very hazy now.

Jim,

I have found an application called CodeSafe but the one I've found is for EPOC machines and runs in conjunction with Macro5. However, its Readme file does mention a previous Series 3 version so it must be out there somewhere. From the Readme:

"This is an OPL32 version of the CodeSafe macro for MacSys on the S3a/c Psions." Obviously it still requires the Macro program to run though.

Mike,

Yes, I think the link I posted is for the Series 3 version. As I recall, the version of CodeSafe for the Series 3 did have to run as a macro under MacSys.

My other thought was just ordering a copy of the Psion CD from 3Lib. It's got almost every shareware and freeware porgram that's ever been written for the full range of Psion machines. I think it's something like 20 pounds (or Euro's - I can't keep up with what country has what anymore:)). Probably a lot easier than spending hours searching the web.

Jim,

It was the 3Lib CD I was searching through when I found the EPOC CodeSafe, but there didn't appear to be the Series 3 version on it.

Mike,

Well, if it's not on the 3Lib CD then I think the FTP site is the only hope for finding it. Boy, I hope the EPOC programs don't start disappearing this fast.:(

Hi,
You can find CodeSafe, both the SIBO and the EPOC5 versions, and a lot more of my programmes at my website.

Hi,

The program was not Huub's CodeSafe, which I know is still available, but DataSafe from Palmtop (now TomTom). Currently they release SafePlace, 5s only. TomTom don't have the 3(a/c/mx) version (or can't find it) but it was, perhaps shortly, available as a free adjunct to the SIBO software world.

At that time, whenever it was, I was not 'Netted so anything I had was courtesy of Steve Litchfield (wow!).

Emphasis, this is not a real problem for me but I'd like to try it if I can.

Can I?
