Can anyone tell me if it is possible to run java applications on pocket pc? If so, is there additional s/w that I need?

Yes it is possible to run JAVA on your PPC. Here is an article from PPCmag that has some links.

You should try Jeode. It comes with the iPaq and I use it frequently. It's only 2MB installed, which is good for older devices.

Try also CrEme VM from NSICom (www.nsicom.com). It's a very good java vm for PDA.
