I have had no end of trouble with my SanDisk 128 MB SD storage card and am told by Toshiba that this brand of card has known problems with not only Toshiba, but other PDAs as well. I warn anyone to steer clear of the SanDisk SD cards. I've E-mailed SanDisk Tech Support twice and recieived no response. Hopefully the Fax I sent just now will be answered.
Anyone else experience failure of the Backup program with a SanDisk card? Or indeed, does anyone elso know another brand of card that fails them...?

This is a well known and often ranted about problem with Sandisk cards, and not only for Toshiba, I'm sorry to say.
Not much you can do about it except take it up with Sandisk I think. I'm a big fan of being pushy with those companies and demanding my money back - and telling them I plan to post to eComplaints and spread their bad name around... it has worked for me numerous times with all sorts of gear ranging from Compaq computers to Nextel to all kinds of stuff.
People should stand up and let companies know how angry they are. Companies need to hear it so they can either choose to ignore their bread and butter or do something about it.
Thats my $.02.

Thanks for the confirmation of my suspicion. Could you tell me more about this "eComplaints" item you mention?

eComplaints is just a Web site where you can have your rant posted- - and then the Site notifies the appropriate company and a host of other folks - or at least they claim to. I suspect that companies may monitor it so that they can take care of some of the problems. I am not sure.
I actually got a call from Compaq the day after I posted on there about one of their horrendous desktops and they gave me a full refund.
I think it is: http://www.ecomplaints.com
You should try to address the issue with SanDisk first though, I think. My philosophy on this matter is that we should give the companies the benefit of the doubt that they want to take care of their customers, and make some effort to let them do so.
Failing that, I say it's war.

Thanks. I agree with your philosophy precisely. I'll try it out if needed.

SanDisk seems to have almost the whole SD market...
What other SD cards do seem to work ok? Does the size of the card also make a difference?

I have the Crucial 64MB card and it works fine.
On a semi-related note, I own a Minolta DiMage 7 digital camera, and in looking for CF cards for it I found a site that has postings detailing which CF cards work and don't work based on user feedback. It was VERY helpful in my ultimate decision to buy one from Australia of all places, because this Ridata (I think thats what they're called) company never had problems reported on the board. I have never regretted my decision. It works perfectly. Its 512MB and it was expensive, so I didn't want to screw up that one...There were other cards that ALWAYS had problems, like something from MrFlash I think, and many others.
That said, I'm sure there is a similar list of cards that work somewhere, but we should create one here too.
