I have downloaded Audio Player and freecell to my Zire but now want to delete them. Can someone tell me how to do this please?

1.) Tap on the "Menu" icon onthe lower left of the Grafitti area.
2.) Tap on Delete, which will bring upo a list of all apps on your unit.
3.) Tap on the app you want to kill.
4.) Tap on delete.
5.) Repeat as needed.

Some programs leave bits and pieces that can be difficult to remove, and may build up over time.

One trick is to use a program like 'FileZ' and have it list files by creator. With a little practice, you can tell which 'creator code' goes to which programs, then you can use FileZ to help clear out some of the bits.

Other programs, like 'squaky clean' help root out every last bit fo these programs- but it is also all too easy to acciddentally erase a vital and difficult to restore component.

Some programs, like InWatch, track what other programs do to make it easier to safely erase these bits. (Personally, I LOVE InWatch, but never remember to use it!)

Yeah, Inwatch was awesome while it worked on my Z71. Don't you enable IW Hotsync madkins? The reason I had to stop using it was because there'd be an error right after comparing the snapshot. I traced this to datebk5 and erased it. After a few days, the error came back, and this time I couldn't do squat. So it's back to Uninstall Manager for me, which IMHO is good enough.

I've been a registered InWatch user for many years now. SOMETHING happened back then to make me disable IW Sync (I don't recall what), and I never bothered to re-enable it.

I had not even thought about that until you mentioned it! I guess I'll have to approach it from scratch! Thanks!

Any opinions about BeanUp? I used it briefly on my previous handheld and didn't have any disaster.

You can also use Beam Pro to find the small databases that are left behind.

I have a Zire 72s, which does not have a menu icon on the lower left of the Graffiti area. I think.

I assume you mean to tap outside of the graffiti area...what I get when I do that is the ability to choose one of three dropdown menus, either Record, Edit, or Options. None of these has "Delete;" the closest is "Delete Note" under Record.

Where is this "Delete" to be found?

Hello HomeThtrLA,

Paul from palmOne here. It's the icon with the bars, just below the one with the house, to the left of the grafitti area. Or you can go up top to the time display and tap that, as well. Either should be done while you are in the Applications Launcher (home display, where all your program icons are). If you're in a particular program and launch a menu, it will be for that particular application only. Hope that clears it up for you.

Best

Paul

Indeed it does! That was the detail that was missing.

This Zire 72s has the apparently classic problem of thinking that the computer (with 60 gig free) is out of space, and so is the Zire, so it tells me that the address book could not sync properly, and I should probably delete a couple of records and try again. I was pursuing getting rid of a program because that problem started after she installed one particular program.

But now that I know how to delete it, I find that it is not even there any more. Apparently I did delete it in one of these sessions, but have forgotten that I did so.

So now I need the answer to the classic question (and I have already spent an unsuccessful half hour looking for it on this site): How the heck do you convince the program that the Palm and the computer have enough room for the records? They sure as heck do have room!

I'll start that as a separate thread if I don't hear from you soon.

Thanks!
