Behold! We live yet! We, the users of hopelessly obsolescent hardware, continue to persist in our obstinate refusal to be lured away by the insidious influence of modern technology.

I STILL LOVE MY VELO! Philips refuses to acknowledge that it ever existed - but it still does the jobs I need done.

Thanks to DASARGE for setting up this board for us hopeless types.

It was nothin', really. I just sent Jim Miller, the managing editor, an email asking for a board for h/pc and or Windows CE equipment, if he didn't wanna do a Philips/Velo board proper. When he emailed me back, it was to tell me that it was done! MY thanks to Jim.
A note...if threads are posted with VELO in the subject line, then a search can be initiated for VELO, and all relevant posts will be displayed.

Hurray!!

Finaly found a place where people know about the Velo
I purchassed a Velo from a collegue who had no idea what he had in hand an no knowledge whatsoever, he had however a serious money problem.
When I got the Velo there was nothing to go with it, so i have no info on the thing. Is there anyone out there with a User manual?

I have allready heard (through Philips) that they don't support the thing anymore.
To connect the Velo to the Internet I probbably need a modem (it's not on board, is it).
Is there anyone who can tell me wich cable to us or how to make such a cable?

Lots of questions, little knowledge as you can see, but who knows.

Bas

he bas!

p.s. Sry guys we're both dutch and since dutch is our native language i thought this would be better.

Yeah you helped me a lot.
and I did recieve your mail,

I was just curious if there are any aother members listining in.
The question about Internet is the result of you telling me that there is a modem on board and how to use that

groeten Bas

P.S. Sorry guys. its easyer in dutch, but if you want to join in your welcome in dutc, french, german or english. I'll try to put the questions in english anyhow

I had a velo 500 paid like I think $650 retail.

I didn't like it at all but at the time it came out it was one of the "most feature rich" hpc around.

my problem with it include:
- hard to see screen
- Miniature Flash Card instead of standard CF.. (as far as I know largest I seen of them is 8meg. and now that format is dead)
- too big to be really "pocketable" and too small to be real use for touch typing.

but now it's on ebay for around $50 so it's a good bargain. and good for the bux.

personally I think the original price of $650 is arip

Hi,

Nice to connect worldwide with the users of this wonderful gadget. I've noticed that this device is still very popular in the Netherlands.

I've recently blown life into this device for many users by re-engineering the battery packs. I've helped out many Velo users in the Netherlands by selling them my Velo Rechargeable Battery Packs. With the extra punch of power, this gadget is quite an affordable supplement for the mobile warrior who want to type reports, do a little Excel, balance your accounts, read offline webpages.

I've owned a Velo since 1998 and still I'm hooked. Mainly because I now own the motherload of Windows CE 2.0 HPC software ever. Just name it, and I have the application! :)

Anyway, if anybody is interested in obtaining a Battery Pack, just contact me at pbruring@wanadoo.nl . If you're looking for some 'past shelf life' Windows CE 2.0 software, I might be a good starting point as well.
