Unfortunately (the ique 3600 has) no provision for trip simulation (setting a start point other than GPS position) and no waypoints for route "bending"
I think the review is wrong but wanted to check with the Pros, will be my first GPS purchase.
Thanks in advance.

Until we get units in hand no one can say for certain that the handheld that the qoute is either accurate or not. I do have and have had for sometime the Mapsource software on my desktop and it will satisfy your request or question.
The specs say you can have 50 waypoints and if you chose to bend the waypoints - I don't see why the handheld won't do what your asking.
Where was this "qoute" that you saw....it must be old.

I lost the link when I copied the quote :( was from one of the GPS magazines I think.
As long as the map software can do it - should be fine.
It is hard to spend so much money and not have more details isnt is? I have high expectations, hope none of us are dissapointed. A copy of the users guide would help even if just a pre-release form.
found it - and it looks January - so maybe just bad info.

I agree that until we get the units, we won't know for sure. I will however say that I have one of the original Street Pilots, and the iQue software looks and sounds identical (except that my Street Pilot doesn't automatically create a route--you have to enter the turns). With my Street Pilot, I can get directions between two addresses, but I have to do it by creating a route. While driving around (navigating), you can put in a destination and route to it, but, as I say, to get directions from a point that's not your current location, you have to create a route between two addresses/waypoints; it can be done--it doesn't require you to create the route on the PC and download it to the GPS; it can be done in the unit while you're on the road (but please pull over first!)

Thanks in advance. Just in case the below link doesn't work. Garmin's website says "automatic route calculation", for what it's worth.

Why?
Ok, poor attempt at humor. With regards to the "bending" issue - you'll always (on the desktop) have the ability to bend the waypoints on your trip to see things that Garmin's calculated route doesn't take into account. The worst case scenario I'd see is allowing the automatic routing to first set the route and then the user go back in and "bend" the waypoints by creating multiple routes, which is a capability of the iQue.
Example: Auto routing creates a map between point A to point D.
User creates a route from point A to B, B to C, C to D.
When we have the units - I'm certain this board will figure out a work around for just about anything regardless. Let's face it - no device has ever had such capabilities so there may be some "tweaks" that might have to come down the road but based upon my Garmin V - the iQue will be much more user friendly.

When the GPS V first came out there were reviews that said the same thing about it -- but they were wrong. The way to create an automatic route starting from a point other than your current location is to select the simulator ('use indoors') and choose a new location. Now when you create a route it is from the new location to the destination you chose. I'd bet the same thing will work on the iQue.
