I have been having a hard time connecting to the internet using my Palm M515 and Nokia 6340i cell phone (On Cingular cell service)
Several people here tried to help me out, and I REALLY appreciate that!
I called Tech support today (cingular) and they told me my phone was set up for internet.. after MUCH questioning, finally the rep told me that my phone had to show a specific code on the front ("GMS" or something) to be able to actually access the internet with that phone. In other words, the phone has to show you are getting a cell signal by showing the word "CINGULAR" on front, and under that it should also say "GMS" (Or whatever it was) if you are in an area that has internet capability.
You can't connect to your normal internet service if that isn't showing.
She further said that they didn't know what areas actually had towers with this function since it was "new", and "every thing about it is still kind of confusing" (Her exact words)
I live in Upstate SC near Greenville and travel to Atlanta quite often, and NONE of the towers around here seem to have this "new function", but they sold me an internet phone and told me that it would allow me to connect to the internt with my laptop OR my Palm M515.. they forgot to mention that the service was new and not really available yet.
So this is where my connection problems have been coming from.
Thanks again to everyone that was so patient trying to help me out. I thought this might help someone else having problems connecting to the internet using a Palm and Cingular.
