Has anyone tried the trial/test version of Mapopolis Navigator for the Palm? Apparently, they will be releasing the package at the end of August.

I'm curious as to how it stacks up against the Garmin navigation software. It requires Palm OS 5 though... which I don't have yet, although the new Palm T2 paired with an Emtac might be nice!

Being familiar with the Garmin software already (I own the III+ and V series GPS) I'll probably wait for the IQue to be released. I placed a pre-order for it back in Feb from GPSCity. Although, if Mapopolis releases their software before Garmin gets their product out, I might just be tempted to change my mind.

Sorry... forgot to include the URL to the software download if anyone with OS 5 is interested in taking it for a spin and giving a quick review.

As a side issue, the one main concern I have about the iQue is battery life. I read somewhere (can't find the link) that it will run approx. 2 hours with the GPS turned on. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but it maybe an issue if say you're hiking and want to record a trail on the GPS so you can backtrack. (the GPS V works great as it can record a trail and runs for about 11 hours on replaceable AA batteries) Leaving a waypoint at the departure site just isn't the same as it'll only give you a straight line back. Not an issue for automobile navigation as it'll be plugged in, but if I were only to use it in a car, I would get a dedicated unit like the new 2610.

I guess being able to whip out the PDA and mark certain places of interest as waypoints is neat in itself. Hopefully it'll also work with Vindago as well, to identify places of interest near your current location.
