Will we be able to upgrade the T615C to the new OS 5? If so, any ideas when that will be available for general use?

TIA JohnKes 09-25-2002, 11:17 AM You would need to replace the Dragonball processor with an ARM, then you would need to change the motherboard to support the ARM. It would be cheaper and easier to sell your 615 and buy a new OS5 unit when they come out. epack 09-25-2002, 11:32 AM Um, I'm sorry, but I don't know what an ARM is in this context. Presumably you are referring to some sort of hardware upgrade? I certainly DO understand what the motherboard is :) If so, you are probably right about just getting a new one, but I just got this thing barely a month ago so that's not likely to happen :( <sigh> thanks tho. JohnKes 09-25-2002, 12:08 PM An ARM is a more powerful processor chip than the Dragonball processors that are in all current PalmOS PDAs. (Kind of like Pentium processors in PCs.) PocketPCs have used ARMs for a long time. PDAs with OS5 and ARM will have multimedia features, etc. Your 615 is just fine for what you bought it for. There are plenty of features you can enjoy: http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_story.asp?ID=2855 http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_story.asp?ID=2869 I use my PDA to store and show family pictures, among other things. epack 09-25-2002, 12:48 PM Ah, I see about the ARM. thanks! Indeed there are a lot of features--that was an interesting review you pointed us to! I'm well aware of most of them, and don't regret getting this model when I did just last month. I got such a good price on it, given the imminence of the new OS, that I'll gladly live with this one for a goodly while :) One item of note in that review, tho, about the skinny stylus. After nearly losing the dang thing at least twice now, I agree fully that the flip top SHOULD have covered the stylus hole too. However, I found a decidedly low-tech way to stop losing it--I tied a length of doubled thread to the tiny strap holder thingy on the side, and attached it to the top of the stylus! Looks a little odd, but works fine for me :) elaine PDA Street
