I own an nr70v and I must say it is a very fine machine. As for which is better, the nx series has updated technologies (like the camera resolution is better, and has a newer os) I would say that the nx is the better of the two tech wise because of all the new updtaes. As for over all, consideribg usage and all, it is up to the user which is best. If you want the latest and greatest you will be dishing out lost of money because there are rumors of an even newer model coming out by december/janurary. If you just want a great machine that can hold its own against the newer sony's (which are the only ones to consider because no one else is even trying to keep up with sony) and not spend too much money, the nr70v is the choice to make.
As for the difference in numbers. Some pdas have different numbers according to which country they are released in. Like the n760c is the n770c in other countries but they are the same pda. Now dont quote me on that but I think that is the difference between the nx60 and nx70. When they become more availible more info will be out there too.

Actually the nx60 is the same as the nx70v, without a camera.New models coming out you say? Hehehe, well, no big suprise, this is sony we're talking about after all. There's practically a new model every week.

DataQuest did a servay of companies cranking out new pda's and sony by far out produces the other companies at a wopping new unit every MONTH in 2002!!!!! Sony is going to mass produce so many pda's that they are going to be priced at what scientific calculators are now. Well maybe jsut a dream but they are really trying hard to make it come true.

Here are some specs:
Nx70v
Camera(480x640)
Compactflash(only bluetooth at the moment)
206 mhz(somewhere around there)
16mb ram 16mb rom
Voice recording
0s 5
Other than that, it's the same as the nr70v, which is
Nr70v
Camera(320x320)
No compact flash
66 mhz
16ram 8rom
No voice recording
0s 4.1
I think that v does indicate it has a camera, it always has so far.

In a process of buying new PDA, I and a friend of mine did a bit of research. Finally we ended up ordering NX70V.
Apart of what are the reasons mentioned by other in this thread, the Palm OS 5 was one of the driving forces that lead to this decision.
Unlike NR70V (which is based on Palm OS 4.1), The NX series are Palm OS 5.0 devices. According to some reviews (we can not confirm these statements as we did not receive our units yet) state that Palm OS 5.0 utilizes the new ARM Processor power, the screen resolution, and graphics capability up to its limits. This makes Sony the pioneer if somebody interested in Multimedia / Entertainment based PDA.
For serous work there are PDA which are still Palm OS 5.0 based but do not have all the feature that Sony Provide.
At the end of the day you have to decide how you will utilize your PDA. This decision might be a driving force for you to go to NX series and The OS 5.0 is a factor that will affect your decision.

I just bought a digital camera at a high price because when I buy something I buy only the best. I also am into a little photography too. But to the point sence I have this camera my wife says I dont need the nx70, but to buy the nx60. I tried to argue with her becuase I think that with the unit with out a camera looks unfinished, it looks cheap, with that cover instead of the camera. Well I am going to order it anyway. I am getting the gunmetal one, and once that comes in What am I going to do with my NR70V with a brand new vaja case. Maybe ill give it to my wife:D

Get ready to wait and possibly wait some more, I checked the Sony site today and thoes suckers pushed the release date on the NX70v/UH (gunmetal) back to the 26th. So I'm still waiting:(
BTW
I'm also a photo tog as well and have expensive taste due to the need to buy quality products so... What camera did you get. Don't want to know how much or even a exact model but what-cha-get!!??

I bought the Sony dscp7 ($500) for the mpeg movie mode. It does 30 fps and has a HQX full tv screen mode which is very cool.
3x optical zoom 3.2 megapixil. About the size of a pack of cigs.
for stills I got the Sony dsc-f717 ($1000) which has the carl zeiss active sonar ranging lense. 5x optical zoom, 2x digital zoom. 5megapixil.
So I have some pretty heavy gear and when the 1 gig ms comes out I can make full lenght movies with the smaller camera and action shot in the range of millions with the bigger one

Phew! Mn Mr Bill Gates, you do have expensive taste! Of course if I could actually get a job that paid me anything more than 6.15(minimum wage) an hour, I might get stuff like that to, stupid age discrimination.... Hey, maybe you want to buy me an nx70v? :D. Just out of curiosity, does anybody know exactly when the 256 and 512 ms will come out? I'm guessing 256 will be about 1 month, and the 512(the one I want) will be early next year. Cheers
