Let me start out by saying that I own a NX and I do Love it but, does the Palm platform really want to go the way of the old CE devices. And make no misstake that is what we are talking about, I used to own a Jornada 548, it was nice and I did like it but when I wanted to get a new program I had to check and see if it was the right Processor, (Like the Tungeston and NX) then I had to make sure it was for the CE OS I had.
I see that real soon when I go to a Palm software site I will have to go to the OS5 section, there will be old palm PDA's and new PDA's, the day of any palm running any other palms prg. are over.
The reason this worries me is the fact that this is exactly what PPC walked away from to become more successful, CE pda's where different CPU's and sound chips and versions of OS. and they cost more than Palms. The people didn't go for it. Why should they , they could go out and buy a palm and not worry about compatability and palm cost less, Now enter the evil parallel demension and Toshiba puts out 300.00 Xprocessor PDA's, Palm's new Prosessor start at 500.00, PPC all run the same programs and the users don't have to worry, while the new Palms are becoming Brand specific............
So I ask you is this the way we really want to go.....

Well, to put more of a question on the new OS5, Supposedly Dell is coming out with their version of a less expensive Pocket PC on the 18th of this month. And it is supposedly very nice and comparable to Palm prices, around $300. I have a Prism and am looking to upgrade soon. The Tungsten is out because they don't play MP3's yet. And I like how Sony has more on board video software ready to go. I would like the NX-60, but who know's after Dell's debut. I'd rather stick with the Palm OS. But if I'm going to spend $500. I'm not sure if were at a MAC and PC split here, but it will be interesting to see what software manufacturers do. I just wish Retail stores would carry more Palm software..................Todd

Well, to get back to the original question: yes, this is what we want. Palm knew that it needed to move on from the slower dragonball processors and get an arm processor in there. This whole change needed to happen, or pocket pc would laeve palm in the dust. They already have x-scale(in my opinion not even enough to run the things), so palm needed arm. Beautiful move palm. Software will come.

Besides, MOST old software runs just fine.
