Hello :),

I've been reading all your valuable information, and I found this place great. I'm waiting for my unit in couple of days, but I'm already thinking about the battery.

It seems that the battery life is pretty short and I will have to charge the unit often (in the car, on a USB plug, with a travel charger). Of course, all the Sony accessories are 2 to 3 times more expensive than the same accessories from another brand (ebay has the best prices).

Do you think that buying a third party accessory to charge the battery will damage it and possibly the unit? The NX is operating on 5.2V. Most of the car chargers you're buying are delivering only 5.0V… Is a USB 1.1 cable strong enough to deliver 5.2V to the unit?

With the price of this NX, I don't want save some bucks on accessories if it ends up damaging the battery or worst (by the way, is it possible to replace the battery?).

Thank you for your input.

Etienne.

I have just purchased a Sony Clie PEG-NX70U/V and I love it. I upgraded from the PEG-NR70U and I am very impresseed with the new NX model. This unit is easy on batteries, I use mine most of the day and the battery life is great, have yet to run below half way on battery life. The new NX comes with a adaptor to use the ac power supply connect to the Clie without placing the unit on the cradle. The new Palm OS 5 is also great. I think you will be well satisfied with the new NX model.

Thanks for your answer RCollins291.

Do you know if we can replace the battery when it starts to loose its charge?

About the battery, one the NR the battery compartment was on the left side lower clamshell and had a screw holding the cover in place, it was a bear to just unplug it when I had to reset the unit because it locked up on me. It didn't like a program I downloaded and the reset button didn't reset it, so I had to go that route. It's not made to be swaped when the battery goes low even though I managed to unplug it but I felt I couldn't remove it with out doing damage.

Be careful:)

Thank you spoolin for your answer.

Its a good think you can replace the battery when it goes dead.

Even the best ones does not last more than 12-18 months.
