How do you convert to a more common format like mpeg? I've tried to search the Sony KB to no avail.
Can't seem to find the answer in the manual. Please help...

As mentioned in your other post:
Once you transfer the mqv files to your computer, try changing the mqv extension to "mov". Also, make sure that you have Quicktime 6.0 installed on your computer. It has the "divx" codec that sony uses in your Clie'. Then you should be good to go! At least this is my understanding:)

I understand one must have Quicktime 6.0, but what if I want to convert to MPEG 3, a more common format?
Any suggestions? I hate to ask everyone to install the latest Quicktime 6.0 to play the movie.
TIA...

You can use Virtual Dub to convert .mov's into mpeg or avi. I think........

you can just download the divx 5 codec and it comes with a small player that will play mpeg4 so it works great for the mqv files and you dont have to install quicktime (which sucks). i have been trying many things to convert these files with no luck yet.

I've had this NX70V for a week or so and I'm trying to play the movies (.mqv) recorded on the CLIE on a better player on the PC and convert them to a useful format for others to see. I've tried changing the .mqv to .mov and I've installed QT 6. This works but the quality is horrid. I've installed the DivX codec 5 with the player suggested above and this is the result. It will play the video portion of the sony .mqv file but no audio? I have inquired about this problem to DivX site and have had no reply. How can I convert these files to the standard of the day... MPEG 4 I believe? Thanks for the help. The babbling junior film maker!

im havng the same problem,
DivX5 doesnt seem to have the sound working. Im d/l quicktime 6 now, I hope the quality isnt as bad as you say.
I still want to convert my mqv to mpeg, since this is far more popular format to distribute moive files, quick time and .mov files suck.
has anybody worked it out yet? cheers
