Not having received mine yet, I believe the following to be true:

You need to be in range of an Access Point that you can use, either via your own or at a public location such as Starbucks, some hotels, airports, etc.

Within the Clie software you also have a browser, and should be able to access any site that you can get to via a regular computer. That includes hotmail. AOL was not accessible the last time I had an AOL account (about 3 years ago), but that may have changed.

Using the Clie Mail client you should be able to access your e-mail through POP. Again, Hotmail does tis, as does Yahoo (for a fee) and others. However, the network you are on may limit what you can send (for instance, via my DSL I can only send mail via my Verizon account, and not any other).

Regarding web browsing, from what I know you should be able to access any simple site. I doubt if sites with ActiveX willwork (i.e. anythign that requires Microsoft IE. I imagine any sites that require Java are also out.

Ask me again on Friday, when my own card should arrive.

No sites that I can name off-hand.

Maybe you can tell me what you are currently using on your computer. I can get a good idea then, and let you know what works.

A couple of points:
1) You need an access point whever you will be using the WiFi. if you don't know what one is, you don't have one. However, if you have any sort of broadband (DSL or cable) adding an access point is easy ($70-100 or so) and helps your regular access as well (since it also includes a 'firewall' that keeps other people out of your computer.

If you don't have broadband, WIFI will get you nothing. It may be usable at the local Starbucks or various hotels if you travel, but it is not common yet.

2) If you use Outlook Express (or Eudora or most other e-mail clients), then the setup you did for those programs (and your ISP gave you instructions) tells you if you are using POP (likely). If your e-mail server is something like MAIL.isp.com or POP.isp.com or SMTP.isp.com, then you should be OK. If you use web-based mail (such as yahoo, hotmail) or AOL, you have to ask the ISP if they offer POP access to your e-mail account. (50/50 chance).

3) Regarding browsing using the built-in browser. You can probably get to most sites unless they are shopping sites or banks. I'm not sure you can get to those since they frequently have Java-enabled applications or specialized controls.
