Wireless connectivity

I've been reading a lot about the wireless WiFi networks...it seems many people leech internet off hotspots in the city, like airports, cofee shops, etc. Are there enough of these hotspots that it would be worthwhile to get the CLIE wireless lan?

Also, does anyone have experience with finding random hotspots in the city that they can go back to if they need to quickly check email or something? haha :)

im vary uninformed about the wireless lan, do i have to pay a monthly fee to take advantage of sending e-mail and all that other stuff, mind you i have mmode from at&t (internet on t68i phone) paying up the @$$ and charged .2 cents per. kb i think i can connect them together with bluetooth but a .2 per kb my bill would be at least $$200.00 a month. could someone tell me how the WiFi works? thank you
