I read one review that cautioned that the adhesive used on some screen protectors can damage the iPAQ screen?!?!
Has anyone used a screen protector that worked? Whats its name and where did you buy it? Thanks!

Greetings;

I have been using Fellowes writeright screen protectors on my iPAq for almost two years and have no problems with the adhesive. It has saved my screen multiple times. They are what we use here where I work on all the iPAQs, 12 or more, and have no problem. You can pick them up at Best buy, they come in a years worth. Here is a link to the bestbuy site and the Fellowes writeright.

I've never heard of comercialy availible screen protecters dameging the iPAQ. Be carful of home-made ones though. I suggest you buy yours at a store like best buy, compusa, or office max.

I have not personally used their screen protectors before, but items at this site have a solid reputation and have been given good reviews. I have tried the ones from Fellows and they had rubbery feel and were not smooth like the screen of the iPAQ.

Does anyone know the brand of the screen protector that is totally clear (unlike the Writeright)?

Not sure you will able to get a totally clear one. They must all have some sort of adhesive on the back of them that will cut down the clarity.

I use fellows WriteRight which are mostly OK. If you look at the screen from an angle they can be a bit "shiny". Looking straight on they are fine.

Absolute b*ggers to get onthe ipaq without any air bubbles though...

Greetings;

The installation of the WriteRight protectors is all technique. Just pull a slight bit of one end up and attach it to your screen, make sure it's straight, and then use the card to "push" the protector on up the screen. Watch for fingerprints on the adhesive side, they will bug you.

I've used the WriteRight's on my Palm 105. You're right, technique(and a dust free room) is everything.

I've seen a different brand that is totally clear, and has a surface that feels a slight bit rubbery. It gives you a little drag, somewhat like writing on a piece of paper. The surface was smooth though, not textured like the Writeright.

The G2 screen protectors from PDAscreenprotectors.com are supposedly crystal clear. Here's a review from gadgeteer:

I just moved to aquire them. I'll post again when i get them to let everybody know...

I've been using screen protectors on every touch screen device that I've owned for years (Palm, Pocket PC and even a MobilePro 780). I replace them every 1 or 2 months depending on frequency of use and have NEVER had any screen damage. They cling to the screen, but do not use adhesives.
I previously used the Fellowes writeRight, but the textured surface cut the screen contrast somewhat.
I recently discovered the Companionlink protectors sold by www.freescreenprotectors.com (only $5 per package!). These are smooth / clear protectors without the contrast problem. The only downside is the smoothness makes them a little trickier to apply well. You must be completely dust free, then carefully smooth on the protector using the edge of a credit card. Once applied well, the screen is almost as clear as without it.

The very first purchase I ever make when buying a new PDA is the screen protector. It's the most vulnerable portion of a very expensive purchase!

FYI... the Companionlink protectors are custom made for almost every PDA available. I even got one for my Kyocera 6035 smartphone.

Hey

Please don't get offended by my id name, I am a possible switcher. It's either going to be the toshiba e335 or the 1910.

Anyway, I have a Dell Axim, and ClearGuard screen protectors.

These DO NOT USE ADHESIVE. I have tried fellowes and belkins and both leave sticky residue to the screen and yes, I have heard that they can damage the screen.

If anybody is interested, here's the linkage:

I just got me an Ipaq at the end of January and saw an add for for screen protectors for Ipaq's. All I paid was S/H and so far it's worked great. Don't feel I have to worry about my screen getting scatched to hell...

You have to be careful applying them though becuse air bubbles can form.

Check them out.
