synching problem

I have an HP 568. Often while synching with the outlook inbox, the connection gets dropped. Once this happens, the only way I can get the HPC to synch again is to remove all the deleted email items from the deleted items folder on the handheld device.

I don't even want the deleted emails on the handheld unit anyway but I cannot seem to find a way not to synch those.

Anyone have any words of wisdom?
