Has anyone experienced the very fast drain if you take a photo or two, then view them.. battery goes down very fast. Next time you try.. battery is too low to take "videos" or pics???

However, upon returning to "normal apps" battery goes back up to 75%. Sony's suppport page just enhances the confusion.

Any help would be appreciated!

Turn off the flash, I get many photo's and video off of one battery, but the flash will use up the battery quickly. I have bought several NEW batt's on eBay for $35.00 each... a good investment.

If you are going dead after 1 or 2 shots, you'd better call 1 877 769 Sony, and see what the problem is

I did forget something... Go to the NZ update page and make sure you have the new drivers... that could also be the problem...

Just to double check, I went and fired off my NZ90 with the flash on, 33 times in a row, and sill had 80+% battery.

Here is the site for the updates you may need

which one of those updates would affect the camera/flash/power usage??

I don't see one that would apply here.

Hi Mike

I had exactly the same experience with my NZ-90. I was so dissapointed I sold it after 3 months. Right from new, I charged the battery fully went out and took 6 pictures without flash. After that I got the "battery is too low ... etc" message.

As for using flash as well, forget it. I noticed also that after a full charge overnight but not using the device for a few hours afterwards, it was showing a drain down to 93% or thereabouts.

Even if I just used the Audio Player for 30 minutes from fully charged, I'd see the level go down to 87%. I bought a second battery thinking maybe the original was faulty but I got the same results

I called Sony and questioned them about it but they told me that was normal. I asked them directly if they were sure this was not a fault condition and they stated emphatically that it was not. To be fair, the specs. say "10 days at 30 minutes per day with backlight off" ie 5 hours.

I can only assume that was why Sony, having realised this would be a issue, built in the replaceable battery.

I bought an NX-80 to replace it (I decided I wasn't really bothered about the camera) and this seems much less power hungry.

Cheers

Trevor
