Hi all,
I am looking to buy a sony clie s 10, s20 or is it a s22 (the B&W one)or a Palm m125 but am not sure what to get. I need something mainly for Outlook synching and to do lists and other office stuff, nothing major, no multimedia stuff. I want to be able to read and edit excel & word files aswell and maybe pdf files. I heard that sony won't synch with outlook and that you have to buy another program for that, is this true? Any input would be great. How many programs are out there for sony? Is it the same as for Palm?

Thanks!

Here's a link to the SJ20 (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=MZtTdgnSXolTbDbrVF5ZfUbf7ZNvNyE7QCs=?Cat alogCategoryID=ANoKC0%2eNRxwAAAD2vEu8UODm&ProductID=JF8KC0%2eNMOcAAAD29Iq8UODq) and here's a link to the SL10 (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=MZtTdgnSXolTbDbrVF5ZfUbf7ZNvNyE7QCs=?Cat alogCategoryID=ANoKC0%2eNRxwAAAD2vEu8UODm&ProductID=UZMKC0%2eN7k8AAAD2kg%2e8UODr). The SJ22 is a color model, so not sure if you were looking for that. The SJ20 and SL10 are both high res b/w screens.

Don't know what your budget is, but if you're looking to choose between the two of them, I'd go with the SJ20. It's more recent, it's got a recharagable battery, and has more RAM on board. Both models come with Documents To Go, which allow you to synchronize MS Word and MS Excel documents with your handheld and PC. Adobe Acrobat has free .pdf read software for your Palm, you can download it from their site. Don't know about writing .pdf's though . . . I only read on mine.

As far as the MS Outlook sync'ing goes, I believe both of these models come with the Intellisync Lite software that Sony includes on the install CD so you have the ability to synchronize your handheld with MS Outlook. I did hear that a recent color model (can't remember which one, hard to keep all the Sony ones straight!) did not include the Intellisync Lite software, however, from what I can see spec-wise, that doesn't apply to either of the handhelds you're looking at from Sony. My personal opinion on the Intellisync Lite software is that it blows. I ran into tons of problems trying to sync my various Sony Models with it and gave up. It's not user friendly, and behaves a bit strange from what I could see. Chapura's PocketMirror is far superior, as has been my experience. If you choose to purchase a registered version of it, it'll work with Sony handhelds, and you'll probably be glad you did.

BTW . . . other bundled software that Sony includes: PictureGear Pocket, gMovie, and CLIE Paint.

The Palm m125 is a compatible enough unit with the Sonys you listed (no high res though), however, if you're going to go this route, I wouldn't mess around with a b/w display if you can have color for a reasonable price. You can pick up m130's pretty cheap off eBay these days. That gives you the same type of features as the m125 with color. All depends on how much you're looking to spend. I'm not sure if Docs to Go comes bundled anymore or not. See the reviews below for information on add-on programs. MS Outlook synchronization is courtesy a "light" version of Chapura's PocketMirror.
