Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : error messages on a P800
Twice in the few weeks I've had my P800 (2nd hand) the screen has displayed a warning symbol alternating with a sketch of the phone with what I imagine is an error/fault code #10 and an arrow apparently indicating the ON/OFF switch with the #1 displayed.
None of the keys including the ON/OFF switch respond when pressed, but removing the battery for a short period does allow the phone to return to a normal useable state.
I havn't been able to find out about error codes etc. so if anyone has any info. or experience of this problem - and a solution if pos - could you pass it on and it will be received with thanks.

I don't know for sure what causes them or what they mean, but I guessed that the symbol meant to turn off the phone to reset it. So I held the power button for 10 seconds and it shut down!!!
The errors occured on my P 800 after taking a series of 40 or 50 photos in very hot weather. I also lost the use of the view finder, so I was taking photos without being able to see what was in the frame. Also several came out all white and two came out reddish brown. However the next day all was well. Hope this helps understand.

Hi Bertever,
Thanks for that, yes I drew a similar conclusion but without the phone responding, though I don't know how long it had been flashing its' warning or whether a long time lapse would make a difference.
I've tried a new battery (not a SONY one) since I posted the query, but the same warning came up within 24hrs of fitting and charging.
Until then I had started to associate occurances with low battery power, possibly large battery drains or the system misreading remaning battery life.
So essentially no wiser, but the problem no worse and removing the battery whilst irritating - works.

I have the same problem periodically with my P800, and can't really identify any cause, or pattern to this behaviour. I understand that a firmware upgrade may well be the remedy - I know I don't have the latest version.
Another little task!

Hi Julie,
The system crashes on my P800 seemed to be getting more frequent so depite not having any warranty documentation I got a contact address from Sony Ericsson UK and sent it for repair.
I was amazed how much I missed it while it was away, firstly because it's just a mobile and I had my old one, secondly I'd only had the P800 a couple of months (Geekish attachment to inanimate objects, help).
Anyway, it was accepted without any request for warranty details they upgraded the softwear (prob. location of fault) and returned it about 3 weeks later and so far, 3 months on, it hasn't crashed.
The company address was;
Celestica (Telford) Ltd,
PO Box 80,
Oakengates,
Telford,
Shropshire,
TF2 9WT
It came back with the standard Sony Ericsson corporate display rather than the Orange screens, which without thinking I then overwrote when reloading my backed up files from the PC!
Hope this helps
David

Thanks a lot for the information - sounds like exactly what I need! I'm still getting the crashes, about two or three times a week.
By the way, my P800 had Vodafone screens on startup when I first got it. It's not too arduous to remove them - the Sony Ericsson display then returns by default.
