I've been told that airplanes have weird electrical outlets. Do I need some special adaptor to charge the iPAQ battery?

Come to think of it, I wish I could carry batteries with me so I wouldn't have to search for a place to plug the thing in. But how?

Thanks, yet again a third time!

if your unit has a replaceable battery, just buy a second.

pls. state what unit you have.

I've got a 1940. Just called Staples to see if they have a battery, and they say that NO retail outlets carry batteries anymore, since PDA's began coming out with the re-chargeable batteries, which they say should last a week. So, from a retail standpoint, it doesn't pay to stock batteries.

The man at Staples said that my battery should be staying charged for a week. He said I must have a faulty battery, because I'm getting a "low battery" message at the end of every day, and I'm not using videos, or mp3's, or the recorder, or bluetooth, or anything else (yet) that would take a lot of juice.

How long are these batteries supposed to stay charged? Do you agree that mine must be faulty?

the man from staples is wrong, you can get the batteries from compusa & many other outlets, or order online. Your battery should last more than a day, though bearing in mind the 1945 has only a 900mha battery. make sure your unit has unchecked "always receive beams" look under connection for that. always softreset after synching, it heps a lot. have your unit turn off after 3mins of no use. & put your back light to half or 3 quarter way settings. I went from a 3955 to a 1945 & am very happy with battery life. charge every evening & get an extra battery.

good luck

1940 and 1910 use the same battery. BestBuy has it for $29.99.

Getting back to your original question of what to use to charge the battery on an airplane. I use the targus power supply. This unit has 2 different types of plugs for different airplanes. All you have to do is buy the correct tip for your unit. Hope this helps...

Hey thanks! Where did you find this? I'll look tomorrow at Staples, CompUSA, Best Buy or Radio Shack. Is that where you bought yours?

Thanks loads!

I bought mine over a year ago at Best Buy. What's great about it is the fact that you can use it for many different electrical components (laptop, MP3 player, CD player, cell phone, and iPAQ). The only thing is that you need to purchase the different tips for the component you are using. The original cost was around $100.00 then around 5 dollars for the different tips. Sound like a lot of money at first but if you use it as much as I use mine it pays for itself really quick. Plus you don't have to carry around a power supply for each component...

Have fun
