My palm IIIe died, I was lucky enough to hotsync to save my old data. I deleted my old desktop installed the 4.0.1 desktop software that came with my 125, but cant seem to access my old data, I can't figure out if this has to do with my user name or what. I installed the new software into the same directory. If I uninstall the new software, my old data is still there, I just can't use it.

As a first step, your user name on both the Palm and the desktop must be identical -- no differences whatsoever.

If that doesn't work, let us know. It should all be available as long as you have deleted any files.

They're both the same name. I tried importing the data, but it won't import it, Do I need to export it first using the old software or handheld?

edited to add: I was able to import my address book data, I previously had exported it to use in another app (.aba file)

DJ is 200% correct!!! You use the EXACT user name and the conduits will "restore" form desk top files. Please do NOT delete anything until you've loaded your data on to your new unit.

By exactly the same, we are being extremely anal. Capitalization in the same places, no extraneous spaces, etc., on both the Palm and the desktop. Most of the complaints that I have heard about this process stem from leaving out the middle initial in one place, or not using capitalization on the PDA but having it on the desktop, or stuff like that.

They are the same and I don't have a problem syncing the hh with the dt, it's just that the data from desktop v 3.0.1 is not acessible from the new desktop software.
My concerns are my datebook, the new software only allows inports of dba and vcal files, my old ones are .dat and .bak. Also my memo pad files were extensive, and the new software will allow importing of .mpa and csv, txt etc, but again, my old files are dat and bak. I am thinking I need to reinstall 3.0.1, and export my old files to be able to import them with the new software?
