Just a minor 'heads-up' for anyone using Psion WAP... assuming there is anyone!

If you 'kill' WAP (Shift-Ctrl-E from the Open files dialog), it will get it's own back by killing all your other apps! For some reason, a 'triple-beep' reset is initiated, losing any unsaved data in open apps.

BTW, for nB/Series7 users, a colour patch for WAP's rather dour UI should be available, fairly soon, in the next Colour Icon update on Martin Guthrie's www.pscience5.net website.

Errr, how on earth do you get WAP on a Netbook?!? I thought this was only available for Revo, and only if you bought the Revo WAP pack. :-(

Chris,

the revo version seems to work well on netBooks! Possibly, it's still available for free download from Psion Hungary web site:

http://www.psion.hu/letoltes/Revowap.zip

In fact this is the English version of the app. It only contains a few introductory wml pages in Hungarian -- but the menu, the dialogues, as well as the help file are in English.

All the best

Chris, I don't think it's a problem. :)

I tried installing Psion WAP on my nB, more out of curiosity than a desire to use WAP - i.e. to see if it would install on a different machine type (unlike Opera, as bundled with a Revo+/5mx). Having said that, in my very limited experience, I've found WAP on a Psion the most useable/useful platform solution - having a decent sized screen and keyboard, unlike a mobile (and most other PDAs, of course! :) ). Not sure how many worthwhile wml sites there are, but at least it's a lot more stable than Opera. It took about ten attempts to dial up, log into Psion Place and post this reply, including crashing out four times- one triple beep reset & three Kern Exec 3 errors! So much for the DIMMupgrade! ;)

I think you should find Psion WAP v1.04 on any recent PsiWin CD (i.e. 5mx as well as Revo+). IIRC, I had difficulty installing it from a PC, under PsiWin. However, copying the SIS file from the CD and installing on the machine worked fine. Can't remember if it was officially bundled with late-shipped 5mx's (along with Opera), but it certainly also installs & runs on a Series 7.

In fact, the licence displayed during installation specifically mentions Psion models other than the Revo. It only seems to prohibit reselling, so I don't think there are any distribution issues. Don't think Psion pushed it very hard, though - don't remember seeing it on their UK site, although it might be buried somewhere. If it isn't there or still on the Hungarian site, I can mail it to you.

Cheers, L
