I've just upgraded my 7 to nb spec'. I then restored my backed up data. Unfortunately this included an evaluation version of Opera. Now when I open the application, I still get the evaluation screen. I therefore assume I have overwritten the application included in the OS for the nb. Can I retrieve Opera from the downloaded OS and re-load it ? I really don't want to re-install the OS, I've spent ages installing/setting up all of my apps.

Hi,

No, its not that bad. All you need to do ins uninstall the evaluation version usnig Add/Remove in Control Panel, and the built-in version (which you cannot delete unless you remove batteries - its on drive Z) will 'appear' instead. If you still get problems, try deleting the C:\System\Apps\Opera folder as well, because this will keep the ini files and cache from the evaluation version.

Hi Robin the Rich,

Before you delete the C:\system\apps\opera folder, make sure you take a backup of your bookmarks file as you will loose them if you just delete this file. The Bookmarks file contain no differences between the evaluation copy and OS version so can be backed up and reinstated as required. If you have not bookmarks then don't worry about doing this.

What is your connection problem? either post it here or create a new thread. One thing to check is how you restored your old files. If you did just a file restore then you need to make sure you did not also restore your commsdb.dat file from your 7 aswell as this will not work with Netbook OS.

Sorry Si,

Yan responded to my connection problem on the other thread. I have indeed restored the series 7 comms file hence the problem. I will have to re-load the OS to overcome this.
