Why buy the TT2

All the hoopla about the T3 coming out on Sept/Oct will make the TT2 "xtinct"...what i fail to understand from Palm is why make the TT2 now and then you produce the TT3 3-4 month's later makes NO sense. Based on the message boards I have followed is that many Palm lovers will wait for the TT3 and skip the TT2.

Palm can be "dumb and dumber".

It is most likely that the manufacturing cost for the T2 is lower than the T1 due to improvements and newer technology. In order for Palm to keep producing the T1 it would be more expensive since the components may not be readily available from external sources due to their own technology upgrades. This is not unusual in the computer industry.

Keep in mind when the T1 shipped first it was well over $500 and now the T2 is much cheaper starting at $399 with more options/features. This implies either a marketing move or it is relatively cheaper to produce the T2 in production - with suspicion mostly on the latter case. I personally don't believe Palm released the T2 for marketing reasons since it offers a "slight" improvement over the T1 and would not offer much of a marketing sense.
