I got this error trying to open the 'Alarm/More...' window of a 'to-do' entry. The 'Agenda' application then shut-down.

Psion has no information on this error. Does anyone have any idea what's happening?

no idea why the error is being thrown, but I do have a workaround you could try.

Open a new, blank agenda file, then go File.. More.. Merge In.. and select your existing file. This will 'clean up' the agenda file and _may_ get rid of some bad data that is causing the crash.

Thanks diem.

I tried your suggestion but, alas, the problem remains!

I guess we'll just have to wait for Psion to come out with an upgrade (will this happen?).

Best regards.

Hi Paul,

Is yours a standard 5mx? Not a Pro or anything like that? I ask in order to ascertain whether this error is likely to be caused by data in the Agenda file or whether you indeed have some dodgy code in your OS revision.

Its probably the former - if so the next thing I'd try is increasing levels of reset - see my FAQ below for how to achieve this.

Diem,

As far as I can tell my machine is an ordinary 5mx.

I thought a reset hard enough to get rid of the dodgy data would also wipe out the other entries or does it work in some other way?

Regards,
Paul.

You'll need to do a backup first of course, because a hard reset will wipe your C drive. I'm thinking that there may be some setting stored in the OS that needs resetting.

Another way to test this would be to open a new, blank agenda file and see if the crash still occurs. If it doesn't, then your Agenda file is at fault, if it does, then the hard reset might help since the fault is obviously elsewhere.

If it turns out to be just your agenda, then you could look at using the 'Tidy/Archive' option under File..More.. to cut out most of the historical data in your file.

Diem,

I remembered that the faulty entry was imported from my GroupWise calendar via Intellisync. I've recreated the entry and this time it performs OK so I think it must have been a one-off - maybe when I was setting up the synchronisation software.

I think we could leave things as they are for now and revisit if it happens in the future. Can we close this thread?

Cheers,
Paul.:)
